Workforce Development Programs

Austin Area Workforce Development Programs - Community Concierge

Community Concierge

A program created to promote Austin as a great place to live, work, play, and to provide new and prospective residents with information they need to quickly assimilate to the community. Our concierge can help newcomers navigate through all aspects of settling into life in Austin. She assists trailing spouses in finding jobs. During the year the program also hosts nine Awesome Austin networking and engagement events.

Austin Area Workforce Development Programs - Connecting Young Professionals

Connecting Young Professionals (CYP)

The Young Professionals group fosters ambition and builds community among young professionals who are paving the way for the Austin Area’s future success and growth. They connect ambitious, young people with a strong, diverse community of peers, mentors, and regional business and civic leaders. Through consistent programming, leadership, and service opportunities, members ultimately become more experienced, community-oriented, and connected.

Austin Area Workforce Development Programs - Grow Minnesota

Grow Minnesota!

A statewide private sector business retention and expansion program led by the Minnesota Chamber in partnership with 70 local chambers. Locally, the Austin Chamber partners on this project with the Development Corporation of Austin (DCA). The purpose is to recognize and thank businesses for being here, identify their concerns and opportunities, and offer the Chamber’s assistance in resolving problems and/or achieving goals.

Austin Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Austin

Leadership Austin

A community-based education and development program that provides participants an intense look at the business, agriculture, politics, education, quality of life, health care, human services, public safety and diversity of our community. The program is designed as an educational opportunity that enables participants to learn about this area’s resources, values, strengths, weaknesses, and challenges. The intent is to motivate and encourage participants to assume individual leadership roles in community affairs. Participants create strong relationships to encourage their future involvement and collaboration in addressing the region’s challenges.

Chamber Volunteer Opportunities

Austin Winter Extravaganza:

December kicked off with the drive-by Santa Visit at the fairgrounds, where 1,000 goodie bags were distributed at the 4-hour event! Get in on the ground floor of this popular new concept. Meetings taking place now. Help make AWE Awesome!

Independence Day Parade: Join up with the crew helping make the beloved Independence Day Parade happen -- 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 4th, in downtown Austin! Committee members will help recruit entries and sponsorships and offer new ideas to make this year's parade memorable! Of course, if you are able to help on parade day, we would love to have your assistance for parade setup! Watch for meetings to start in February.

Ladies' Night Out: This event is a social fundraiser for ladies only! Past years' events have welcomed approximately 300 women for the evening's festivities, which include a silent auction and many door prizes. This committee will help pick the theme and the meal choice, solicit door prizes and sponsors, work the event, and more. The Ladies' Night Out event is in the fall with meetings usually starting in July.
